UNIVERSITY ENTRY
Approximately half of our graduating Year 12 students will enter university the following year. To gain a place in a university course, students must be eligible for and gain the necessary Universities Admission Index (UAI). More information about the UAI and university courses can be found at the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) website: www.uac.edu.au.
Some universities conduct early entry and priority placement programs. These programs offer successful applicants placement in a course prior to the HSC examinations or allow students to gain entry to a course with a lower UAI than is usually required (see the careers adviser for details).
Some students who have been subjected to long-term disadvantage may be eligible to apply for the Educational Access Scheme. This scheme enables students to enter a university course with a lower UAI (see the Deputy Principal, Curriculum for details).
At Kirrawee we offer a range of courses and patterns of study to enable our students to achieve university entry. A full range of 1 Unit, 2 Unit and extension courses are offered.
Our careers adviser is available to brief students on the most appropriate pattern of studies to prepare them for specific university courses. In addition, printed material such as the UAC Guides and specific university information is available from the careers office.
Throughout the year the school organises excursions to university open days and careers markets.
